Sky Fracture Photochromic Pigment
Photochromic Pigments
Photochromic pigments are UV-reactive color-changing pigments that transform when exposed to ultraviolet (UV) light. Unlike traditional mica powders, photochromic pigments contain light-sensitive color-changing compounds. When exposed to sunlight or other UV light sources, vibrant colors emerge. Once the UV source is removed, the pigment gradually returns to its original appearance, making every piece interactive and unique.
Sky Fracture is a specialty photochromatic pigment that appears off-white indoors and transforms into dark blue when exposed to UV light. This unique color-changing effect creates an interactive experience that adds a touch of magic to your crafts.
Activation Method: UV Light Exposure
Effect: Reversible color change
How to Mix in Resin
Photochromic pigments are specialty color-changing pigments rather than mica powders and may require more mixing than traditional mica powders.
To avoid small specks of clumping powder, premix the pigment with a small amount of Part A resin to create a smooth slurry before adding it to your resin mixture.
You may experiment with using a small drop of isopropyl alcohol as a dispersing agent before mixing it into resin.
As always, please create a test batch before starting any large-scale work.
Use with Care
- Photochromic pigments are specialty UV-reactive pigments. They are not mica powders.
- Start with small amounts and add more as needed to achieve your desired opacity.
- Prolonged UV exposure may shorten the lifespan of the color-changing effect over time.
- Store in a cool, dry place away from direct sunlight and UV exposure.
Uses
Perfect for resin art, jewelry, DIY art and crafts, air-dry clay projects, mixed media artwork, coatings, slime and other creative projects.
